News for Immediate Release Sept. 16, 2014 Finalists Announced For PA Women’s Business Plan Competition Easton Business Owner to Compete For $10,000 Cash Prize

Harrisburg – The Pennsylvania Commission for Women and the Pennsylvania Chapters of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) today announced the finalists of the 2014 Business Plan Competition. The finalists will compete for a $10,000 cash prize at the Women’s Mentorship Symposium on Sept. 30, 2014, in Pittsburgh.

“We were so excited to work with amazingly talented, driven and ambitious women entrepreneurs in this competition, and we were honored to choose such a deserving woman to represent our area,” said Kirsten Wentworth, President of NAWBO Northeast PA. “This competition is a wonderful opportunity to help a remarkable woman and her business, and we’re thrilled to be a part of her journey.”

The finalists were selected by leaders from NAWBO Northeast PA, NAWBO Greater Philadelphia, and NAWBO Greater Pittsburgh through an extensive application and interview process. Finalists include: Elizabeth Chang, of Easton; Jacqueline McDevitt, of Philadelphia; and Esther Franklin, of Duquesne. The Business Plan Competition, which was created to celebrate female entrepreneurship, was open to women business owners across Pennsylvania who started their business on or after January 1, 2012.

The finalists will present their fast-pitch business plans to a panel of three judges, including: Lori Greiner, the “warm blooded shark”™ on the hit entrepreneurial business show “Shark Tank” on ABC; Julia Hearthway, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry; and Renee Amoore, Founder and President of The Amoore Group, Inc.

To prepare for the competition, finalists will receive support from the Pennsylvania NAWBO chapters as well as professional coaching by Dr. Laura Sicola, founder of Vocal Impact Productions.

“Elizabeth Chang is a wonderful representative of the Northeast PA region,” continued Wentworth. “We are very excited to work with her as she prepares to represent her business in Pittsburgh.”

Elizabeth Chang is the Founder and CEO of Pretty Mama Breastfeeding, LLC. Born and raised in Colombia, South America, she is a wife, mother of a breastfed toddler and a Bilingual Certified Lactation Counselor. Elizabeth holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and received her Lactation Counselor certification through The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice. She is the founder of The Lehigh Valley Breastfeeding Support Group.

Elizabeth’s passion is working with mothers and babies and guiding them through their breastfeeding journey. She founded Pretty Mama Breastfeeding, LLC in September 2013, and strives to provide a one-stop shopping experience for expectant women; targeting professional women who don’t have time to visit brick and mortar stores. Elizabeth works to empower, nurture and support both the mother and baby through quality products and services.
